Homemade Protein Bars (Kid Approved!)
Do you or your kids eat bars?
We do!
They’re such a quick and easy snack, but I find that most bars are either super expensive or contain crap I don’t want to eat.
So, I have been making my own bars with clean ingredients for a fraction of the price.
Best part, they are delicious and have been a big hit at our house!
Here’s the recipe if you want to try them…
Ingredients:
• 1 ½ cups rolled oats (blended into oat flour)
• ½ cup protein powder (vanilla or chocolate)
• ½ cup peanut butter (or almond butter)
• ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
• ¼ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ¼ tsp salt
• ¼ cup dark chocolate chips (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine oats,,protein powder and salt.
2. Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in peanut butter, honey, milk and vanilla extract.. Mix until a thick dough forms.
3. Press into a Pan: Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper and press the mixture evenly.
4. Melt Chocolate (Optional): If using chocolate chips, melt them and drizzle or spread on top.
5. Chill & Slice: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, then cut into bars.
6. Store: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week, (if they last that long ) or freeze for longer storage.
P.S. I still buy bars too, but these are way better than any store-bought bar I’ve had.
Let me know if you try them. :)
